CAMP ROBINSON MANEUVER TRAINING CENTER, Ark. – Approximately 20 Soldiers with the Arkansas National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 238th Air Ambulance departed here today en route to Camp Atterbury, Indiana, where they will prepare for deployment to Kosovo.
The unit loaded up three UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and lifted off for departure at approximately 9 a.m. The unit will spend the next few weeks training at their mobilization station prior to deployment overseas later this year.
Part of the Arkansas National Guard’s 77th Theater Aviation Brigade, the Soldiers are expected to serve nine months in Kosovo tasked with a medical support mission. The total mobilization time for the unit is anticipated to be one year.
With this mobilization, the Arkansas National Guard will have a total of approximately 425 Soldiers and Airmen mobilized in support of operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo. -30- PHOTO RELEASE See photo at right
